About the Event
The theme of our event “Siam Smile” speaks to Thai Culture, Buddhism and the peaceful influence that Thailand has spread throughout Asia and the world. However, in recent times, natural disaster, economic recession and political woes have deeply affected “The Land of Smiles” and subsequently affected Boston Buddha Vararam Temple as well. We consider this event a opportunity for renewal, awareness and outreach in addition to helping sustain the temple, a place dedicated to preservation of culture, peace and learning.
We are pleased to invite you to please join us in supporting Boston Buddha Vararam Temple. On April 8th, 2012 we will host a gala dinner, concert and evening of entertainment at Spring Step in Medford MA. The evening will begin with a welcome reception at 6pm followed by a multi-course gourmet dinner of Thai cuisine. After dinner there will be a brief presentation about Boston Buddha Vararam Temple followed by a concert, featuring singer Duangpon Pongphasuk.
Ms. Pongphasuk is a renowned Thai singer who has received accolades for her virtuosity and interpretation of traditional Thai and popular music. She will be joined by guitarist David Patterson, Thai violinist Paye Srinarong and many other musical guests from Berklee and New England Conservatory. After the performance dancing, singing and karaoke will close the evening.
